Born in 1983, Zhang Xiaodi gained his Ph.D. in design from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2018. He currently works and lives in Beijing. He also works as a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts of the Beijing Film Academy.
Using images and new media as his medium, most of his works involve water. Water is the highest good. It exists above. Zhang Xiaodi tranquility observes the air that is interwoven by water and wind, so that he can rediscover the hidden path that leads us back to the heavenly way of things. He received the Best Experimental Film Award in the 12th University Student Film Festival and the Talent Award of “Focus on Talents Project 2013.” His solo exhibitions were held in the Hive Center for Contemporary Art, and Art Seasons Gallery. His works have been collected by Today Museum, Wu Han Art museum, and many art institutions.
