During his studies, Yang systematically explored Chinese and Western sculpture theory and creative techniques, deepening his command of form-building, spatial expression and the principles of sculptural composition, and developing a comprehensive academic grounding and independent creative practice. His current practice primarily employs “wood” as his main medium. His work draws on the aesthetic sensibilities of Eastern traditional art and classical sculptural meaning, while actively integrating contemporary artistic concepts, modern creative thinking and diverse modes of expression. Building on the essence of tradition, he continuously seeks creative paths that merge traditional aesthetics with contemporary contexts, striving to imbue his works with new intellectual depth and contemporary significance through varied forms.
