Timothée Bocage was born and lives in Dunkirk. From his childhood, he was immersed in art and creation. His paternal grandmother, a painter, introduced him to the visual arts at a very early age and passed on her passion to him.He exhibited for the first time in 2019, he was 23 years old
.His path to abstraction was gradual. His early paintings, influenced by great masters such as Picasso, Miró, and Basquiat, depict colorful portraits. Geometry was already present, and the desire to bring it to the forefront gradually grew. Colors and volumes became the subject.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Because it does not contain an image of the outside world, abstract art requires an extra effort from us to connect with our emotions.
The subtlety of Timothée Bocage's work is that the shapes interact with the viewer. Sometimes they suggest the figurative form, sometimes they dance together to represent only the artist's flow of emotions. The shapes are defined by clean, controlled lines and each is defined by a distinct color. When two volumes overlap and intertwine, a new shape and color emerge through a delicate interplay of transparency. A painting by Timothée Bocage blends the madness of abstraction with the wisdom of technical mastery. It exudes a certain elegance, a gentleness, and a skillful emotional balance that fills the viewer with calm and positive waves.
